CALCULATION OF FARMING BIOMASS RESIDUES
Innovations and Benefits
Quantitative assessment, through the Agri-res software platform, of the potential energy production and use of agricultural biomass residues on a territorial scale (provinces, regions, etc.). Other information can be provided, such as GIS analysis of land biomass availability or scenarios for gross or net biomass distribution.
Use
Calculation, for the major grass and tree crops in the Italian farming system, of the woody and grass residues produced each year (straw, trunks, boughs, runners, wood), based on crop surface and productive data.
Energy programming and planning at the regional and provincial levels.
Applications and ongoing Activities
ENEA support to the energy planning upon request by the Regions (e.g., PEAR Emilia Romagna, 2011, AA.VV, 2012b). It has also been used for Latium biomass potential assessment for the regional and energy plan (PER).
