Innovations and Benefits
The currently available systems are CRESCO computing clusters, with a total processing power of 150 Tflops and 1 PB of data storage capacity.
High performance computing systems relevant at national level ensure a significant support to the research and technological development activities enabling a state-of-the-art modeling and simulation.
Use
Numerical modeling is an essential tool for research and technological development activities and it requires the most recent computing, storage and software resources as high performance computing is a fast evolving domain. All these resources are made available to scientific/technological users by way of an integrated infrastructure developed by ENEA along the years, with a focusing to application cases and to user friendly interface tools.
Applications and ongoing Activities
Current modelling and simulation activities are mainly applied to the following areas: combustion fluid-dynamics, computational chemistry, climate simulations, air pollutant diffusion models, nuclear technologies, aerospace fluid-dynamics, nuclear fusion physics, bioinformatics, complex systems.
