MORPHOLOGICAL AND IMAGE ANALYSIS, MICROANALYSIS OF MATERIALS
Innovations and Benefits
This service allows to perform analysis directly on samples (up to 10cm) without preparation treatments (direct observation and microanalysis); the samples are not destroyed and can be used accordingly.
Use
Information on the morphology, image measures and chemical composition of materials in different sectors: industry (mechanic, textile, food, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, etc.); the environment (monitoring and control); energy (biomass, etc.); materials analysis for nanotechnologies; and many others.
Applications and ongoing Activities
- Analysis of materials in the framework of the reconstruction plan of Arsita (Teramo);
- diagnostic analysis on paintings of great historical and artistic value;
- characterization of materials in Pompeii’s Villa of Mysteries;
- characterization of pigments in Finale Emilia’s Castello delle Rocche;
- chemical and morphological characterization of materials for leather tanning and food industries under European projects;
- morphological characterization of materials in PWR Nuclear Power Plants part of Euraton-CAST project.
