Innovations and Benefits
These are innovative technologies related to the use of low-ranking and therefore low-cost coals, gasification and co-gasification of biomass, purification from tar and sulphur with innovative methods.
The technology also ensures integration with CCS technologies for the de-carbonization of fossil fuel and integration with biomass. Development and testing of components, innovative sensors and advanced control strategies/systems.
Use
Production of SNG from coal, even of low ranking quality.
Applications and ongoing Activities
The experimental facility GESSYCA is being completed; it is a small, highly versatile and instrumented demonstration system for the setting-up of technologies and the development of innovative elements and cycles, including efficient tar and sulphur abatement systems.
