Innovations and Benefits
The C-band allows for miniaturization with respect to conventional radiotherapy machines operating in the S-band and is particularly suitable for applications that require a compact and easily movable source.
Use
Medical application for radiotherapy with gamma rays generated by interaction of the accelerated electron beam on the high-atomic-number metal target.
Applications and ongoing Activities
Pre-industrial development upon contract with a foreign company (ADAM, Geneva).
Preliminary studies with hospital users for applications in breast tumours to be irradiated in specific geometric configurations.
