Innovations and Benefits

Innovative/original thin-film-based products characterized by higher performance and lower production costs in the reference sectors. Products obtained by means of innovative thin-film deposition processes and apparatuses operating under vacuum. More specifically, customized sputtering and MOCVD apparatuses designed by ENEA with the aim of achieving low-cost industrial production on large area substrates.

Use

Coating for solar thermodynamic receiver tubes. Coating for low-temperature solar thermal panels. Manufacture of low-emission window glass. Advanced thermal coating for aerospace applications. Window electrodes for thin-film photovoltaics.

Applications and ongoing Activities

Manufacturing of receiver tubes for solar collectors with operative temperatures up to 550 °C; production of receiver tubes by Archimede Solar Energy (Angelantoni Group) licensed by ENEA and agreement for production-targeted technical support; development of window glass under the SMARTCASE project in collaboration with the companies belonging to Distretto Campano Edilizia Sostenibile STRESS; development of transparent electrodes for photovoltaic applications under the national operative plan project “Ricerca di Sistema Elettrico” (Electrical System Research) supported by MiSE.
