Innovations and Benefits
Variable optical filters allow building ultra-compact spectrometers useful for image acquisition and material analysis also in remote sensing. This technology is important for the development of modern portable instruments. The absence of movable parts makes the filters suitable for the instrument miniaturization.
The extension of the operation wavelength range to the infrared spectrum is still a challenging objective.
Use
Light and compact instruments, suitable for multispectral imaging acquisition outside the specialized laboratories, with applications in all sectors where in-situ measurements are required.
Applications and ongoing Activities
Prototypes for European Space Agency’s space missions and for applications to cultural heritage(DTA and Selex ES) as well as for the environmental monitoring.
