Coordinated by ENEA and funded under the Interreg Med Programme, the SINERGIA project provides for the diffusion of innovative process and product technologies aimed at increasing energy efficiency in the Italian and European agro-food production context, with particular focus on the Mediterranean area. Specifically, it tends to improve agro-food SMEs competitiveness within the global market through energy technology innovation.

ENEA Activities:

  • Coordination of the project’s activities and financial management
  • Identification and classification of innovative processes and technologies ensuring higher energy efficiency in the agro-food production chain
  • Energy audits in pilot enterprises in different Mediterranean countries and definition of energy benchmarks in some agrifood production sectors
  • Definition of a software platform architecture in support to the diffusion of energy technologies
  • Diffusion and replicability of the project in the Mediterranean area by training, information and technology transfer
  • Writing of a ‘White Paper’ on energy innovation in agro-food for local public decision-makers
