OPERATE – OCEAN ENERGY RESOURCES ASSESSMENT FOR MALDIVES
For achieving the objectives
Agenda 2030
The project by ENEA is aimed at getting an accurate evaluation of the energy potential of sea currents in Maldives’ Archipelago. Thanks to the development and use of numerical models of the local currents circulation and current metric measurements, the most adequate sites to produce energy from the sea will be identified.
Recipient country:
The Republic of Maldives
Period:
2017 - 2020
ENEA Activities:
Analysis of large-scale currents circulation around Maldives Islands, based on satellite and modelling data
Development of high-resolution modelling of currents circulation in Maldives’ Archipelago, where local higher-resolution models will be embedded to study the currents in the sites of greater interest (atolls).
Status: In progress
