For achieving the objectives

Agenda 2030

Designed in collaboration with the management of the Palau National Marine Sanctuary and the Ministry of Natural Resources and funded by the Italian Ministry of the Environment, Land and Sea, the project aims to act along 6 different lines: strengthening surveillance; fishing and food security; scientific monitoring; financial autonomy of the sanctuary; tourism and marketing; education and training.

ENEA Activities:

  • Conservation state verification of the marine and terrestrial environmental heritage and their interface as related to the impact of the intense tourist exploitation of the Marine Park area.
  • Monitoring of the corals state, the type and presence of reef fish, the few island beaches, the internal lagoons, the vegetation and the state of the water.
  • Study aimed at the recovery and safeguard of some already compromised sites that constitute important attractions and park peculiarities (e.g., jellyfish lake).
  • Local training and dissemination of best practices and sustainable management of natural resources for tourism.
