Circular economy: ENEA joins “Basilicata Creativa", the cluster for sustainable tourism

ENEA has entered the executive board of the Cluster "Basilicata Creativa",  which includes 15 regional excellence in the scientific and business world, active in the fields of culture and creativity.

"ENEA intends to contribute especially in the field of sustainable tourism, approaching the development of the territory with a view to circular economy and establishing synergetic relationships with local communities", Carolina Innella, researcher at the ENEA Trisaia Research Center, in the province of Matera, explained.

The cluster comprises over 50 local players, including companies in the ICT, design, management and promotion of cultural heritage sectors, with the main aim of facilitating the processes of improving the socio-economic, technology transfer and internationalization impact.

"The presence of ENEA within the cluster will allow not only to consolidate the relationships between the ENEA Trisaia Center and the other research and business players in the area, but also to develop new practices to efficiently manage resources while protecting and enhancing the natural and cultural heritage", Innella concluded.

"Basilicata Creativa" joins the other 4 clusters operating in the region in the aerospace, bioeconomy, energy and automotive sectors.

The cultural and creative production system produced 6% of Italian wealth in 2017, amounting to over 92 billion euro, with a 2% growth compared to the previous year. Furthermore, the sector had a multiplier effect on the domestic economy (1.8 percentage points). In other words, each euro produced in the cultural field generates 1.80 euro in other sectors (source: Fondazione Symbola 2018 report).
