Delegations from Central Asia and France in bilateral meetings with ENEA

30/1/2015

Photovoltaics, carbon capture and sequestration, and ENEA edge research on energy efficiency technologies were at the centre of the interests of an Eastern Europe delegation attending the SET Plan Conference. On the sidelines of  the event the delegation met ENEA experts in bilateral meetings.

A qualified scientific delegation from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Belarus, Moldavia and Turkmenistan attending the SET Plan Conference, taking place in Rome on last December 10-11, took the opportunity offered by the Conference to have an in-depth exchange with ENEA experts on the latest advancement in key energy technology research fields.

On the sidelines of the Conference, the Eastern Europe delegation – in Italy within the INCONET EaP programme of the European Union - engaged ENEA researchers in bilateral meetings aimed at knowing more about ENEA expertise and establishing a first link for future collaborations of mutual interest.

The Azerbaijan’s delegates of the Baku State University showed interest in Renewable Energy Sources, future developments and environmental impacts, debating the topic with ENEA Head of Unit Francesco Di Mario, who illustrated current research lines and future perspectives. Armenia’s representatives of the Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics of the Russian-Armenian State University deepened ENEA research on photovoltaic technologies, while the Tblisi State University of Georgia started a  technical dialogue on Carbon Capture and Sequestration and geothermal opportunities.

Concluding their stay, delegates visited the Research Centre of Casaccia where some advanced experimental facilities – from CSP demo plant to the solar heating and cooling system, to Zecomix CCS plant, to name few - have been illustrated and showed.

The Conference has also been a valuable occasion to strengthen the bilateral cooperation with many European partner research institutions, all involved in the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) that ENEA has contributed to launch in order to support the SET Plan. Particularly fruitful the meeting with the French IFPEN (IFP Energies Nouvelles) delegation, aimed at enhancing pre-existing cooperation and identifying new common interests and possibilities of joint activities and projects.
