Advanced photovoltaics: the SOPhi@webinar e-learning platform developed by ENEA available to the international science community

27/4/2015

Over 40 speakers, 16 different events and more than 830 registrations from scientists, researchers and experts from Europe, the USA, South America, India, China and Australia, this was the outcome of the e-learning activities on innovative photovoltaic technologies carried out during the European Project FP7-SOPHIA-European PV Research Infrastructures recently completed.

Among the topics discussed were crystalline silicon and thin film solar cells, organic and concentrating photovoltaics, the development and characterization of advanced materials for photogeneration, reliability testing of materials and assessment of materials performance, applications such as the integration of photovoltaics in architecture.

The SOPhi@webinar open-source platform was developed by ENEA in collaboration with the project’s partners, enhancing knowledge exchange and the training of researchers, particularly young ones.

The creation of a functional website full of information, and the possibility, in some cases, to follow lessons in streaming, constitute an almost unique tool in the European energy research context.
