Agrifood: Seeds&Chips2018, ENEA scientific advisor to the global food innovation summit in Milan

At the start the partnership between ENEA and Seeds&Chips, the global food innovation summit (MiCo - Milano Congressi, 7 - 10 maggio 2018). ENEA will act as scientific advisor at the event which every year in Milan brings together representatives from companies, the academic community, institutions and media and opinion leaders from all over the world, to discuss food innovation and agrifood issues.
At the Milan summit ENEA and Seeds&Chips will take stock of the potential technology can provide to sustainability and human health, showcasing the best solutions and the most advanced projects for an increasingly efficient management of natural resources and a global economic development. In this way Seeds&Chips will strenghten its activities in the field of sustainability applied to sectors other than food. ENEA’s role as scientific advisor at this fourth edition of Seeds&Chips stands beside its activity of event planning and supervision of initiatives related to its mission, up to the processing of contents during the event.
“ENEA’s participation to Seeds&Chips 2018 will mainly regard technological transfer and cooperation to development. In particular - Massimo Iannetta, Head of the ENEA Biotechnologies and Agroindustry Division, pointed out- we will present our projects aimed at the management of water resources in Developing Countries, which we have been involved in, together with the Ministry of the Environment, as climate change mitigation actions.
“Our technologies dedicated to the retrieval and valorisation of water in industrial processes – Iannetta continued- such as the innovative filtration, ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis which decrease the pollution load and allow to recover by-products useful to new production, will be available to Agrifood SMEs. Among the new developments, the ENEA high-tech for optimizing and making more efficient water consumption in hydroponic cultivations”.
