Dario Chello appointed as the Head of ENEA Brussels Liaison Office

As of January 1st 2016, Dr. Dario Chello is the new Head of the ‘European Union and International Organizations’ Unit based in Brussels. According to the most recent re-organization of ENEA (The Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development), the Unit, whose personnel is located in Rome (ENEA’s headquarters) and Brussels, will act on three main pillars, namely:

  1. international funding for R&I projects and studies;
  2. technical and scientific support to the policies in the fields of interest of the Agency;
  3. permanent representation to European and international Brussels-based organizations and networks.


Dr. Chello, senior advisor for international co-operation at the National Agency for Energy Efficiency of ENEA since 2013, is not new to Brussels as he was Director of Energy Efficiency & Investment Directorate at the Energy Charter Secretariat in Brussels from February 2007. Prior to that, on November 2004, he was appointed by the Director General for Energy at the Italian Ministry of Industry (the current Italian Ministry of Economic Development) to coordinate international relations and energy planning with reference both to EU and other international activities. Specialist member of the Technical Secretariat of the DG during the period 1995-1996, he was a consultant in the Policy Assessment Office of the Minister’s Cabinet. Dr. Chello has Ph.D. in physics of energy systems from the University of Paris 7 (1989).
