news.jpgThree finalists have been selected from over twenty inspiring entries to pitch for their chance to be the overall DigiBIC Award winner at the European Bic (EBN) Congress (Derry-Londonderry 29-31 May).

The DigiBIC Award rewards businesses and research institutes who have worked together to successfully deploy digital technologies in the Creative Industries. It recognises the impact of successful technology deployment on the growth and development of individual companies.

Massimiliano Guarneri of the Technical Unit for Radiation Application Development (UTAPRAD-DIM) from ENEA has been selected as a finalist in the Research Institute Category for colour and underwater 3D laser scanners.

The colour 3D laser scanner can be used for restoration and remote monitoring, cataloguing and fruition by creative industries working in the cultural heritage, film and gaming sectors. The underwater 3D laser scanner is the result of a national research project for underwater archeology and is now being developed for underwater oil structure and nuclear site inspection in collaboration with a Scottish SME.

Winners will receive a cash prize and an expenses-paid trip to pitch to an audience of investment, innovation and business incubation specialists at the EBN Annual Congress in Derry-Londonderry on 29-31 May 2013.
