Over 50 million euro have been granted to ENEA for 165 projects over six years  (2007-2013), thus increasing its capability to get resources autonomously by 20% .

ENEA has been awarded over 50 million euro for 165 projects under the Seventh Framework Programme over six years  (2007-2013), thus increasing its capability to get resources autonomously by 20% .  That is the outcome emphasized by the Report “ENEA: Excellences and criticalities”,  presented  during the Transparency Day last 12 February.

The positive data of the Report include the number  of EU contracts, which have strongly increased from 40 to 61 per year and so have  the related funds, from 6 to 15 million euro from 2009 to 2013.

Additionally, in the last few years the Agency has given rise to 11 high-tech spin-off s, has registered 813 patents, has ranked 12 for the resources obtained in the energy sector and 26 in the list of  3608 European research bodies, with a 27% success rate for applications presented against 21% of the European average.

Compared with the 2002-2006 Framework Programme, the projects awarded have doubled and the funds obtained are four times higher.

ENEA is also the national coordinator of ITER, the international project on nuclear fusion.

To better disseminate the outcomes of the Agency’s activities, a software platform has been set up with all information on services and skills, so that the production system demand and ENEA supply are met at best.

Its over-sixty-year history, more than 2.700 staff employees, 14 research centres and laboratories, 43 experimental facilities, and 11 territorial offices providing support to local administrations make ENEA a national and European reference institution in the field of applied research, especially as to energy. Its activities are focused on research, innovation and advanced services to public administration, enterprises and citizens.
