Energy: 4 centers for energy efficiency in public buildings inaugurated
29/10/2020
Conducting energy efficiency diagnosis and training specialized staff to promote "low or zero energy" public buildings thanks to innovative technologies. This is the objective of the project REEHUB (Regional Energy Efficiency HUB) which inaugurated four Centers in Brindisi (Puglia), Agnone (Molise), Tirana (Albania) and Podgorica (Montenegro) to support energy audits of public buildings and training / information for technicians, stakeholders and citizens on sustainable construction themes.
The project was developed by a partnership comprising ENEA, the Municipality of Agnone and the DITNE (National Energy Technology District) for Italy, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and the Barleti Institute for Research and Development (BIRD) for Albania and the University of Architecture of Podgorica for Montenegro.
The project, funded by the European program "INTERREG IPA CBC Italy, Albania, Montenegro", has obtained double recognition from the European Union: it was selected among the Interreg projects approved in Europe and presented at the COP 25 in Madrid as best practice for tackling climate change[1]. On the basis of the results obtained, a second phase of the project was funded for carrying out 11 energy audits on public buildings.
As part of the project, ENEA has developed a simplified energy diagnosis method which was transferred through ad hoc training in the four centers. "Today, with this knowledge, local architects, engineers, construction companies and municipal technicians can conduct audits in compliance with the regulations set by the European Union and find solutions to improve the energy efficiency of buildings. The objective is to adopt a synergistic approach to the decarbonisation of the construction sector, in line with the EU principles ", Monica Misceo at the ENEA Energy Efficiency Department Unit pointed out.
"We hope the hubs will become actual meeting places for policy makers, citizens, designers and representatives of the construction materials industry and SMEs for sharing ideas and experiences on the implementation of local energy plans. The goal is to offer training and information opportunities and technological support promoting good practices for diagnostics and energy efficiency ", Vincenza Luprano at the ENEA Sustainability of Productive and Territorial Systems Department, said.
The ENEA method for simplified energy diagnosis and requalification was applied to the buildings housing the four Centers, with the purpose of collecting data and measurements for the training courses.
