Energy: At the start project for EU standards compliance for electrical products

19/9/2019

The European project EEPLIANT3, to ensure compliance of electrical products entering the market with labeling and eco-design legislation, is kicking off. Its general objective is to protect consumers and increase their confidence in EU energy efficiency policies. Funded by the Horizon 2020 program, the project EEPLIANT3 (Energy Efficiency Compliant Products 3) comprises 28 partners from 21 countries, with the participation of ENEA and the Chamber of Commerce of Milan, Monza Brianza and Lodi.

"The number of products covered by eco-design and energy labeling requirements has practically doubled in the last six years so that, compared to the two previous projects EEPLIANT, the range of devices to be monitored to ensure their compliance with European legislation has been expanded, with the inclusion of air conditioners and fans", Milena Presutto, ENEA researcher, pointed out.

ENEA researchers will be involved in the creation of centers of excellence for product verification, particularly of air conditioners, fans, household dryers and lighting appliances.

In order to achieve its objectives, EEPLIANT3 will coordinate monitoring and verification activities through the development of new IT tools and increase knowledge and competence of national authorities in market surveillance actions, also with the involvement of the ADCO Labeling and Ecodesign working groups and of producer and consumer associations.
