Energy efficiency: Online new free software for residential building certification

10/5/2018

ENEA, jointly with the Construction Technologies Institute of the CNR, has made available  the new version of DOCET, a simplified software tool for the certification of existing residential buildings, targeted at technicians and operators of the building sector. The software, to be used for buildings up to 200 m2 without major renovations, can  draft the energy performance certificate (APE), which assesses the energy efficiency and energy class of a building and includes recommandations on how to best improve the energy efficiency of the property.

The most important innovation is the possibility of transmitting the APE to the information systems set up by the Regions thanks to an interchange file automatically generated by the software, which enables to transfer the certificates to the Information System on the Energy Performance Certificates at the national level (SIAPE), the data bank set up by  ENEA in order to implement all the energy performance certificates of buildings at the national level.

The latest version of DOCET, called v.3.18.04.50, meets the ever changing compliance requirements of the sector and takes into account all the regulations and implementing decrees containing requirements, minimum standards of buildings and new national guidelines for the energy performance certification. In particular, the upgrade was made necessary following the implementation of new technical specifications provided by the UNI (Italian National Unification Body), relative to the assessment of the energy performance  and climate data on heating and cooling of buildings.

An additional version of the software is already under development, providing for the file generated by the software to include-beside the information contained in the APE- also input data on the characteristics of the building and output data on intermediate and final calculation outcomes.

Since its first version in 2007, DOCET has proved to be an important tool available to experts and operators, thanks to its strong points such as reproducibility of analysis, easy-to-use graphic interface, high simplification of input data and a highly accurate calculation engine.
