Energy: ENEA at third international conference on clean energy

30/9/2021

ENEA will participate in the 3rd RD20 international conference on clean energy technologies for carbon neutrality, which takes place from 28 September to 8 October in Japan - with many online talks - at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), as part of the "Tokyo Beyond-Zero Week 2021".

Giorgio Graditi, head of the Department of Energy Technologies and Renewable Sources, appointed to represent ENEA in the "Leaders' Session", will introduce to the representatives of the main research institutes of the G20 countries the state-of the-art projects and energy technologies ENEA is working on to accelerate the path towards energy transition and carbon neutrality.

"Events like this are key to become informed about cutting-edge technologies and research initiatives in place in the G20 countries and to contribute, in a perspective of international collaboration, to promote the decarbonization of the energy and economic system on a global scale", Giorgio Graditi pointed out.

ENEA will present its latest research and innovations developed in the field of renewable energy sources (photovoltaic and concentrated solar energy), in the efficiency and decarbonisation technologies for industrial processes, the energy storage sector, the smart sector integration strategy and in energy communities . Central themes will also be the technologies for the management and advanced control of integrated energy systems, the geological storage and reuse of CO2 (CCUS) and hydrogen production and its end uses in the hard-to-abate sectors (transport and residential”.

"The summit is also an opportunity to raise the level of excellence of the research institutes operating in the field of green technology and also to explore and strengthen the potential for international collaboration to pursue shared global goals" Graditi said.

The event will be divided into two online sessions: a "Technical Session" (29 September - 1 October) with a focus on "sectoral approaches to decarbonisation", "social acceptance of hydrogen technologies" and "next generation energy management systems"; a "Leaders' Session" (8 October), during which the representatives of the major research institutes in the G20 countries will discuss the research and development activities and actions to be taken to achieve a wide consensus on an international cooperation  to build a low-carbon society.
