Environment: First Festival of environmental journalism to be held in Rome from 6 to 8 March

Promoted by the Ministry of the Environment and ENEA with the support of ISPRA and the Italian Federation of Environmental Media (FIMA).

Promoting and enhancing the role of environmental journalism as a lever to spread a culture of sustainability. This is the aim of the first Environmental Journalism Festival which will take place from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 March at MAXXI, in Rome, organized by the Ministry of the Environment and ENEA with ISPRA and the Italian Federation of Environmental Media (FIMA).

The event was created to investigate new scenarios and emerging challenges in the environmental field by involving the media, the institutions, the world of economics and research to identify tools, paths and shared methods promoting  quality journalism on these issues

Very often, in fact, the environmental topic doesn’t get adequate media’s  coverage, be it climate, waste, areas at risk, air, water, sea and city pollution or circular economy opportunities , sustainable mobility, smart cities.
The Festival, structured as a course with training credits for journalists, will focus on four main themes: the role of information for the general public, investigations, new media and risk of fake news; the climate and waste emergency; the economy, environment and green new deal; the role of technological innovation, smart cities, renewable sources and new mobility.

Inaugurated by the Minister of the Environment Sergio Costa, it will be attended, among others, by the president of ENEA Federico Testa, the president of ISPRA Stefano Laporta, the president of FIMA Roberto Giovannini, the president of the National Order of Journalists Carlo Verna, the director of TG1 Giuseppe Carboni, the director of ANSA Luigi Contu, the director of Adnkronos Gian Marco Chiocci, the director of Sky TG24 Giuseppe De Bellis, the director of TG3 Giuseppina Paterniti, the director of the Press Room of the Sacred Convent of Assisi Father Enzo Fortunato, and by big names, such as Donatella Bianchi, Tessa Gelisio, Luca Mercalli, Massimiliano Ossini, Valerio Rossi Albertini, and Mario Tozzi.
