Giorgio Graditi (ENEA) has been elected President of MEDENER for the two-year period 2019-2020, with the unanimous vote of the general assembly of the association which comprises the agencies of the Mediterranean Countries engaged in the field of energy efficiency and renewable sources. Graditi, 50, Head of the ENEA Division "Solar thermal, Thermodynamic and Smart Network", succeeds Dario Chello, Head of the ENEA Office "European Union and International Organizations" in 2017-18.

MEDENER promotes and supports energy efficiency and renewable sources in Mediterranean Countries with the aim of implementing global and integrated energy policies, stimulating the exchange of information, experiences and best practices, implementing projects and partnerships, as well as cross-border cooperation strategies to accelerate the energy transition process and sustainable economic development in the Mediterranean area. It’s one of the three platforms created within the framework of the Union for the Mediterranean (UPM) to strengthen Euro-Mediterranean energy cooperation in the electricity market, natural gas, renewable energy and energy efficiency.

"The cooperation, interconnection and structured coordination of activities among the three UPM platforms are key actions to strengthen the global energy policy in the Mediterranean region and favor an eco-sustainable energy model", Giorgio Graditi said.
